To all, I have a notebook computer that is running windows xp
professional. I have also loaded Oracle10G and created a small form to test. When I run the form I get the following error message:

FRM-10142: The HTTP Listener is not running on 127.0.0.1 at port 8888 Please start the listener or check your runtime prefferences.

My listener is - OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener and it is running.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks
Jerome Greene

Have a read of thread http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/49451/67467/ - it is probably due to entries missing from the tnsnames.ora files.

How many Oracle homes do you have?

Search all the files on your PC for 'TWO_TASK', windows machines need to use the variable 'LOCAL'.

Have a look at http://www.cri.univ-rennes1.fr/documentations/DBDOracle.html and
http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/ic-faq.html for some guidance (use Ctrl-f to find TWO_TASK in them).

Its probably a tnsnames entry naming problem.

I believe I only have one Oracle home. It is called OraHome_1 on
my C drive.
The search of my computer for 'TWO TASK' found a couple of readme files that had TWO TASK in them.

Here is copy of my Portlist.ini file:

Portlist.ini

Oracle Developer Suite HTTP port = 8889
Oracle Developer Suite JMS port = 9240
Oracle Developer Suite RMI port = 23910
Oracle HTTP Server Diagnostic port = 7200

Here is a copy of my OraHome_1\network\admin file

# TNSNAMES.ORA Network Configuration File: C:\OraHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = HOSTNAME)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
)
)

Open your register. Go to 'My Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ORACLE'. There will be entries ALL_HOMES and HOME0, HOME1, etc.

In the ALL_HOMES, you will have DEFAULT_HOME, HOME_COUNTER and LAST_HOME - reply with their values please.

In HOME0, HOME1 etc please reply with the values for ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_HOME_NAME.

Dave, this is what I have in my register:
under 'My Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ORACLE'.
KEY_Home1 & KEY_OraDb10g_home1
I don't see any of the information you looking for.
Is this the right place to be?

Please review my previous post.

Under 'ORACLE' there is an entry ALL_HOMES, select this entry. In it there are three fields, DEFAULT_HOME, HOME_COUNTER and LAST_HOME.

In your reply record the 'Data' against each 'Name'.
DEFAULT_HOME =
HOME_COUNTER =
LAST_HOME =

I'm sorry. Either Oracle was copied to this machine instead of being installed, or 10g installed into an empty machine is completely different to 10g installed over 9i.

If I am correct, and Oracle was copied to this machine and not installed, then I suggest that you delete whatever is in those directories and start again by going through the full install process.

Otherwise, I can't help you, I'm sorry.
